Today\u00a0I’m\u00a0thinking about the regal white heron.\u00a0If you live\u00a0near the water you have witnessed\u00a0the majestic and stately\u00a0grace of the\u00a0heron waiting patiently at low tide, watching in the stillness for its breakfast to swim by. No ripple appears\u00a0around the heron’s legs, it seems immobile. When the right fish\u00a0ventures too close\u00a0the heron rapidly thrusts its beak\u00a0into the shallow water\u00a0without hesitation and immediately snatches up its meal.<\/p>\n
In today’s world of power marketing and social media\u00a0we are bombarded with\u00a0what I call the “all about me” mentality.\u00a0I’m shifting my focus and learning from the great white heron. It draws no attention to itself, as it stands, stock still keenly observing. Its sustenance comes to it, not the other way around.<\/p>\n
As an artist and writer I am guilty of the “See Me!” method of promoting my work for the return of dinner on my family’s\u00a0table.\u00a0Currently I heed the great white heron’s wise counsel. I am standing still.<\/p>\n
